Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Capitanes (8-5) in Caguas on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Criollos (5-6) 84-75. Caguas looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. American forward Louis King (201-1999, college: Oregon) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Criollos' coach Wilhelmus Caanen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for Arecibo. Criollos have a solid series of four victories in a row. Caguas maintains fifth place with 5-6 record. Arecibo at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost.
Sixth-ranked Santeros (1-8) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Capitanes (8-5) in Aguada. The visitors from Arecibo managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Pierre Jackson chipped in 14 points and 11 assists. Capitanes' coach Allans Colon allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Dominican center Joel Soriano (211-2000, college: St.John's) with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Arecibo maintains first place with 8-5 record. Aguada lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost.
A very close game took place in Manati between Cangrejeros and Osos. Third ranked Cangrejeros (6-4) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Osos (2-6). Cangrejeros managed to escape with a 1-point win 93-92 on Sunday evening. Hassan Whiteside nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. Cangrejeros' coach Nelson Colon used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Rob Edwards came up with 20 points and 6 rebounds for Osos in the defeat. Santurce moved-up to second place, which they share with Quebradillas. Manati lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 9: Guaynabo was beaten by Bayamon on the road 100-85. Bayamon destroyed San German on its own court 104-70. Carolina managed to outperform Quebradillas in a road game 92-84. Santurce was rolled over Caguas at home 71-92. Guaynabo was crushed by Bayamon on the opponent's court 116-87. San German beat Mayaguez in a home game 75-72.
The most impressive performance of 9th round was 23 points and 11 rebounds by Sam Mennenga of San German.



Bayamon - Guaynabo 100-85

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Vaqueros (10-2) beat 4th placed Mets (5-5) in Bayamon 100-85 on Thursday. Bayamon had a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Italian forward Danilo Gallinari (208-1988) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and Dominican swingman Chris Duarte (197-1997, college: Oregon) accounted for 24 points. Five Vaqueros players scored in double figures. International center Ismael Romero (205-1991) came up with 25 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Derrick Williams (203-1991, college: Arizona) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Guaynabo in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vaqueros have a solid series of four victories in a row. Bayamon maintains first place with 10-2 record. Guaynabo lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with five games lost.

Very expected game when 5th ranked Atleticos (2-7) were smashed by first ranked Vaqueros (10-2) in Bayamon 104-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Bayamon. San German managed to win third quarter 31-30. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vaqueros made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Dominican swingman Chris Duarte (197-1997, college: Oregon) nailed 26 points and 4 assists for the winning side and Italian forward Danilo Gallinari (208-1988) accounted for 26 points and 5 rebounds. A very close game took place in Manati between Cangrejeros and Osos. Third ranked Cangrejeros (6-4) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Osos (2-6). Cangrejeros managed to escape with a 1-point win 93-92 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 29-24 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Cangrejeros looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and the former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. There was a small surprise when second ranked Gigantes (6-3) won against their close opponent Piratas (6-4) in Quebradillas 92-84 on Monday. Quebradillas trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 27-21 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 84-92 at the end of the game. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American guard Kobi Simmons (196-1997, college: Arizona) nailed 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Reggie Perry (208-2000, college: MSU) accounted for 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Carlos Emory (196-1991) came up with 23 points and the former international swingman Tyquan Rolon (192-1995, college: LeMoyne) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Piratas in the defeat.
